Social media wise I am as up-to-date as I care to be though there is just too much to do to spend all my time on Facebook.What I found to be a really interesting change in my routine was that the Smartphone had become a digital extension of everything I do. For example 6 in the morning I’m at the gym, just the night before I was planning my routine on my phone.
July 19th saw the hosting of Google Engage in Bryanston for those lucky enough to grab an invite and register were treated to a plethora of interesting speakers and Googleness. Talks ranged from how digital is perceived in South Africa, how advertisers can maximise potential gold minds of business through trend analysis and a little [...]
So where exactly are these microscopic productivity sappers hiding?

Is Google fashionably late or are they trying to be like a snail in pursuit of some salt, alternatively has Google taking to heart the lessons learned from previous social media duds i.e. Buzz and wave.
Not too long ago back when the millennium had just started and starting a dotcom was the rage, a new form of buying entered in to cyberspace. Group buying as it was known then. Simple in concept, a company would offer a deal on the website at a hugely discounted rate from a partner company such as a restaurant. The buyer then purchases the deal… hold on a second there, the deal hasn’t been concluded yet.

You know all those pages you “like” on Facebook how many of them do you actively follow and look forward to viewing when there is no one watching you at work.
Not that many I’m guessing and why is this…. it’s because those pages are duller than watching midsummer murder repeats. If nothing has change and the pages are as barren as the salt pans in Botswana you are not going to develop a huge resource and a pool of buyers who tell you directly what they think about your product or service.
So what is LinkedIn really, is it just another Facebook?
Yes and no, LinkedIn is a social network similar to Facebook but it’s for professionals, no not professional hitmen but professional businessmen and leaders in their respective industries. You join Linked in to talk about business matters and not music, sport or the party that happened on the weekend that’s what Facebook is for…
